  Project Managers

Executive management of any enterprise engaged in accomplishing capital projects must employ effective project management to accomplish project objectives. It is imperative for capital projects to result in positive, direct, measurable business outcomes for the benefit of the company investing in the capital project. Too often project management functions are focused on the technical aspects of projects and not on the strategic benefits to be derived by the company from the projects’ outcome.

Properly implemented project management methodologies become increasingly critical in direct proportion to the size of the project’s budget, the number of cross-organizational departments, personnel, subcontractors and vendors to be integrated and managed and the importance of the project’s success on the competitive position of the company. Effective Project Management is, in fact, a defined process requiring knowledge, discipline and routine followup to actions.

The following list represents the three primary phases during the life-cycle of a typical project:

- Planning Phase
- Execution Phase
- Project Closeout and Performance Assessment
iiiPhase

Within each phase are a multitude of tasks to successfully implement each phase of a project. CPM Technical Solutions' staff have in-depth, hands-on

experience in all phases or projects from initial conceptual design through the Performance Assessment Phase. The following diagram respresents the typical phases of a project:

Each project must address key items such as the Project Manager’s authority, responsibility and accountability. The Project Manager must develop the Project Organization, staffing requirements and define Functional Requirements and Responsibilities of the Project Team along with Divisions of Responsibility.

Included in the responsibilities of the Project Manager are:

- Definition of Project Goals, Objectives and Project Success
- Baseline Budget and Schedule Definition
- Engineering Change Control
- Schedule and Cost Change Control
- Procurement Management Processes
- Construction Management Processes
- Testing and Startup Processes
- Project Documentation and Project Closeout

These are only some examples of the responsibilities of the project manager. CPM Technical Solutions, Inc. has professional project managers accustomed to managing large, complex projects and effectively managing the myriad of duties effectively.
