Field Engineer – Distribution Voltage Lines Construction

Job Description:
Responsible for daily on-site contractor supervision and direction for overhead, and occasionally underground, distribution lines construction and rehabilitation to ensure on-time, on-budget project completion within established safety requirements.  Responsible for supporting the engineering organization with methods and standards development for the delivery of cost effective and high quality lines construction and rehabilitation projects.

Essential Job Duties:

• Responsible for overall construction and construction site management; including parking, material and equipment lay-down areas and ingress and egress points.

• Responsible for daily on-site contractor supervision and direction for overhead, and occasionally underground, distribution lines construction and rehabilitation to ensure on-time, on-budget project completion within established safety requirements.

• Responsible for pre-job safety briefings and communications of daily job and project tasks and work sequencing.

• Responsible for maintaining design standards, material and equipment specifications, construction standards, and engineering practices for overhead and underground distribution lines, supporting the completion of cost effective and high quality distribution line assets.

• Coordinate, receive and manage owner-supplied material.  Ensure specs are met for material and equipment and construction services for efficiency and quality.

• Plans, prioritizes, and coordinates assigned work to meet established goals and schedules.

• Monitors and controls expenditures within the planned and approved budget.

• Coordinates switching, tag-outs and holds to support system construction tasks and restoration.

• Participate in right-of-way management activities such as DOT coordination, pole attachment requests, and encroachments request reviews

Job Qualifications:
Candidate must have twenty or more years as a journeyman lineman with foreman and / or crew leader responsibilities.  Extensive experience with construction and rehabilitation of distribution voltage pole lines, reconductoring, switching, pole-mounted transformers and other related construction up to 69kV.  Experience with project management, contract administration and contractor oversight required.
